Meet, 2008 Heart Hero, Bo Godawa - Hi, my name is Bo Godawa and I am going to be 15 years old on September 9th. I have chosen the American Heart Association as a foundation I want to help with because of many reasons. I am a heart surgery survivor. To explain that a little bit, I was born with a hole in my heart and a cleft in my mitral valve, making it leak. This hole was not one that could heal on its own, so I had open heart surgery at the age of 3. I still have a leaky valve but other than that, I am doing great.
